Why is the pen tool so difficult to master? Which is the best tutorial on the web where i can learn to master the pen tool to perfection :)
@Richie, the only way to master the pen tool is to practice, and practice, and practice again even more. You might find some tutorials online, some are rather good but they'll never do the jobs for you... :)
Richie - this problem is for many designers,But i like to ask you didn`t mention in which software. Photoshop or illustrator or coreldraw( designers still use CDR ). In chase of illustrator :-
Steps i learned :Illustrator 1. Before e.g,creating a character for using pen tool directly, try to make default shapes like circle and rectangle then using direct selection tool( A ), make shape you need, 2. If you need more node to make a character using (+) tool add the nodes and drag it.3. You are done. - then by practising more and more you can get it.Tutorials can help you master in them- they can give knowledge only.If your try corel draw - then the illustrator will be much easier than you - i bet. !!! :D
Using the pen tool is just like the first time you use a new game console. The controls are going to seem hard to learn and your character is going to keep dying but after you stick with it and allow yourself to screw up it will become like a third hand.
I thought the same thing a few months ago and I would stick to the pencil tool mostly but then after I started using the pen tool, with the keyboard short cuts I was able to fly through illustrations.

Hmm.... Thats quite right. I needed a confirmation on that. Thanks for letting me know.
When I see some tutorials on PSDTuts and ComputerArts, they just skip the 'drawing part' (which, as we both agree is the toughest part in the process) and go on explaining the rest.

Also, there isn't any good tutorial on 'How to effectively use the Pen Tool' as that would ease my practicing process instead of ineffectively playing around with the pen tool.
Thank you, L :D
